Incentive to walk

Traffic in FL is increasing every minute; however there are many downturns for using a car. To start, it makes us lazy, gas prices are high and we keep polluting the Earth every time we use them. For some strange reason though, people keep using cars more and more, even to go to the corner store. My main goal is to incentive people to walk by enjoying nature and paths available for pedestrians.
While doing some research on traffic patterns, I found out that Bal Harbour, even though small, is influenced by car transportation mainly. Collins Ave, its main avenue, runs from south to north creating a nice and comfortable path. One of the problems for residents in the Bal Harbour area is that if you live in the west side of Collins, you will not be able to go to the beach unless you walk a few blocks until you get to one of the extremes or use your car. By adding an opening, or a bridge towards the ocean, the pedestrian density will not only be at the extremes of Bal Harbour, but it will be dispersed throughout the Bal Harbour area. People will be able to go to the beach, enjoy nature and visit the shops within a 20 to 30 minutes walk.
